Diets – Hunger Hurts

Every time you go on a new diet, is one of your biggest fears that you’re going to end up being hungry a lot?

Maybe even most of the time?

Or worse, all of the time?

The truth is that most people turn to notions of hunger, pain, willpower, suffering, depravation, starvation, and who knows what else at the mere mention of the “D” word.

And, they know in their heart of hearts that any weight loss is only temporary at best.

No need for such fear.

You can diet successfully without any of that hunger, depravation, and starvation stuff.

Hunger Is not About Food.

Without going into the particulars – good or bad – of any specific diet plan or diet program, let’s just agree for the sake of argument that all legitimate, well known diets work.

If you’ve been on one or more that “didn’t work, ” it’s really because you just couldn’t tolerate that diet. You didn’t follow it closely enough or stick with it long enough. Right?

Come on… be honest.

The most common reason you didn’t follow it canada goose outlet closely enough or stick with it long enough is because you were hungry on it and found yourself reverting to your old eating habits.

What you didn’t know, is that hunger is much less about the amount of food you eat and much more about the quantity and quality of the nutrients you give your body.

In other words, when it comes to hunger, think nutrients not food.

2 Questions

Ask yourself:

How can you limit how much you eat (according to your diet of choice ) without struggling with your will power and without being hungry all the time?

How can you limit what you eat without compromising your health?

The answer is:

As you follow your diet’s eating plan, take personal responsibility to make sure that you treat yourself every day to the Right Kinds and the Right Amounts of the simple 7 Nutrients that your body needs to stay satisfied (from a hunger standpoint ) and healthy.

Hopefully your diet plan takes the simple 7 Nutrients into account for you.

But, if not, it’s up to you.

The simple 7 Nutrients

Here’s a list of the simple 7 Nutrients:

Proteins

Carbohydrates

Oils

Vitamins

Minerals

Fiber

Water

There isn’t enough time or space to go into the details about the right Kinds and Right Amounts of the simple 7 Nutrients in this article. We’ll have to delve into the details another time.

For now just remember that all of the above are critical to good health and effective weight loss. Yes, critical to your weight loss – both short term quick fixes and long term, healthy weight loss.

Hunger And Nutrients

Here’s how hunger works using an automobile analogy.

Your natural hunger sensor (I’m just going to call it your “tummy” to make it easy ) is like a very sophisticated system of sensors and a gauge on your car.

The series of sensors sense every little cheap canada goose jackets thing. If a tire needs 1 pound of air, if a shock absorber is wearing out, if you need even an ounce of wiper fluid, if the steering is slightly out of alignment, if the brake pads are getting the tiniest bit worn. Get the idea? Everything.

And then the sensors feed their message to the gauge. If the gauge is green, everything is OK. If it turns red, there’s a problem.

Great system.

Except it’s not sophisticated enough to tell you exactly what the problem is. The sensors know, for example, that the left rear tire is 1 pound low on air.

But all the gauge tells you is that there is a problem. You don’t know if it’s the tire pressure or the wiper fluid or the steering alignment.

What happens when the gauge turns red?

You have to go check every little thing that’s attached to the sensors to figure out what the problem is, whether or not it’s very serious, and what to do as a remedy.

Obviously it’s great to have this sensor and gauge system.

But, because of its one major flaw – not being able to specify the problem – in reality your only real solution is ongoing preventative maintenance. You’ll want to make sure that gauge never turns red because if it does, you’re going to have a lot of work to do trying to figure out the problem.

Your tummy gauge works the same way.

Your body is extremely sensitive to lack of nutrients and may send a signal to your tummy that it is a bit short of Potassium, for example. It’s one of the Minerals in our Simple 7 Nutrient list.

Your gauge – your tummy – let’s you know it needs some Potassium.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit like your car gauge. It can’t pinpoint the problem for you.

And, so far in our remarkable evolutionary process, that tummy gauge only has a one-word vocabulary.

That word is “Hungry. ”

You will feel hungry when in reality all you really need to satisfy that hunger is an additional 300 mg of Potassium, for example. A medium sized tomato or a cup of non-fat milk would do the trick. Completely satisfy that “hunger. ”

But, not knowing that all you need is a little Potassium, instead of the tomato or milk, you stuff yourself with a bag of chips.

Have you ever wondered why you can feel hungry, eat a whole bag of chips, and literally still feel hungry?

You know your stomach is full. It’s stuffed, in fact. You may even feel stuffed – uncomfortably full. And yet… you still feel hungry.

You know there is no rational reason to still be hungry. Physically speaking, it’s even hard to imagine eating anything else just then. Yet you still feel hungry. And will most likely stuff yourself even more.

It’s a simple case of your body needing one or more of the Simple 7 Nutrients, not being able to specify for you which one or what combination it’s lacking, and then you responding to the hunger signal by trying some form of food that, unfortunately may have no relation to why you’re feeling hungry and has no chance of satisfying that particular hunger signal no matter how much of it you eat.

Like your car, the obvious and very simple canada goose jacket
solution is to make sure to do preventative maintenance.

And do it every day.

Keep your body well supplied with the right Kinds and Right Amounts of the simple 7 Nutrients and even if you eat relatively small amounts of food, you’ll seldom, if ever, be hungry.
